Language

Hello guys,

Since you are reading this, you are:
    A. a completely random person who looks for nintendokameel64
    B. interested in the roman city of Londinium
Choose for yourself.

Latin
Anyway let's talk about language. The language of the Romans was Latin. The grammar of Latin is totally different of the grammer of English. In Latin you have inflections to indicate what the function of a verb is in a sentence. I give you a example:

Plinius vocavit servis

Cityname
Londinium was probably the roman word for Loninion, which probably meant wild (lond). It could be possible that the name Londinium came from the pre-Celtic word Plowonida, meaning wild river or wide river.

nominative
Londīnium
genitiveLondīniī
dativeLondīniō
accusativeLondīnium
ablativeLondīniō
vocativeLondīnium
locativeLondīniī

"When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life." -John Lennon

Londinium under Fire

Hi guys,

I have found some interesting information about the destruction of Londinium around the year 60 AD.

The Celtic Queen
There was a Celtic Queen that named herself Boudicca. She was hard and she hated everything that was Roman. When the Romans build a city in her territory she had enough of the Roman Medling.

The Attack
Flames and flames!
In the year 60 AD she attacked the city. The Romans weren't prepared for a big Celtic attack. So the Celtics won the battle and plundered the whole city. There are found several places with fire debris, so we can conclude that Boudicca had put the city on fire when she leaved.

Rehabilitation
After the big attack of Boudicca the Romans send a big army to Britain. The Romans defeated Boudicca and they Rebuilt there city. Londinium soon began growing again and in the year 140 AD the city had over 45.000 inhabitants.

I hope you guys found this as intresting as I found it. There is coming more soon! Please keep returning to our blog.

Urban Management

Hi Guys,

It's been another day and everything is going fine so far. Today I really feel like writing about urban management.

Themes
As you can see, Londinium is located next to the river Themes (Themse). This really helps the city in providing enough food and trading with other nations. The walls around the city were really common in that period of history, because they help defend the city against the Celtics.

Planning
If you look closely, you will see that the roads are mainly straight. This indicates that the Roman planned their city's in stead of letting them grow unplanned.

Public places
In the middle of Londinum is the forum. The forum of a city is basically the main square where meetings and speeches were taken place. It was very common for a roman city to have one, much like the amphitheater. The Temples in the city are the most importants buildings. You can see that Londinium had 3 different temples.

I could tell you a lot more, but I'm out of time. Maybe a next time?

Later, my fellow inhabitants of the earth,
